There are around 80 species of Dracaena which can be herbaceous, shrubby or even tree-like in character. They come from tropical regions across much of the world. Perhaps the best known example of this genus is the dragon tree (Dracaena draco) of the Canary Islands. Many of the speciesare cultivated and used as houseplants in the UK. Lithops is a genus of succulent plants, with one of the post popular being the 'living stones', little succulent balls that look like stones on the surface. Enjoys a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Only water the soil when it is thoroughly dry, these plants have the capacity to store water for months! When Lithops are growing new leaves, it's best to leave them and not water until the old pair of leaves are completely dried up and withered We have a mix of available lithrops, and one will be selected at random by a member of the team from the available specimens.
There are around a thousand species of peperomia. They are usually herbaceous or epiphytic and many are grown for their interestingly patterned foliage. They are generally tender and are grown in houses and greenhouses. They are usually grown for their foliage as the flowers are of little ornamental value. Peperomia generally have simple leaves that have a huge range of decorations with green, pink, red, purple and white as well as silvered forms. The leaves are often speckled with alternate colours and the leaf margins often differ from the colour of the base leaf. They are shade-loving plants which like plenty of water and are intolerant of cold or frost. Unless specified, one peperomia plant will be hand selected at random from the available options by a member of our team. A large genus that comprises around 600 species of annuals and perennials found in tropical regions in all parts of the world except Australia. They are generally grown for their attractive foliage having a noticeable central rib. Many of them have intriguing variegation which makes them appealing as houseplants. They tend too be low-growing and will gently root their way to new environments. Unless specified, the plant will be hand selected by a member of the team from the various species in stock. Spathiphyllum 'Chopin' (widely known as a 'peace lily') are grown for their ornamental flowers that take the form of elegant spathes, often held well above the foliage and coloured white. Chamaedora Elegans, also known as 'the 'Parlour Palm' was popular with the Victorians and remains a firm favourite. This houseplant is easy to care for and can tolerate most conditions of light, water, temperature, humidity and feed... they also have excellent air purifying properties as well! This plant is shade tolerant but placing in brighter indirect sunlight will encourage flowering. Water when the soil begins to dry out. Be careful not to overwater and ensure the plant has sufficient drainage to prevent root rot. Thrives in average household temperatures above 18°C and needs a minimum of 10°C. Can tolerate dry indoor air but prefers extra humidity so mist occassionally with lukewarm water.
