Crataegus Monogyna, often referred to as the common hawthorn (or Quickthorn) is a great multi-use shrub. It produces fine fragrant bloom during late spring, which smothers the plant in small white flowers. These then make way for small red berries that appear in the summer and provide a brilliant source of food for wildlife such as birds. Its most often seen grown as a thorny hedge that offers protection and an impassable barrier. Despite this, it can also be seen individually in tree form, and left to its own devices is capable of exceeding 5m in height in ideal conditions. Its not uncommon to see it grown like this as a specimen plant, usually maintained to keep a desired size. This is a pack of 5 Hawthorn bare root whips, making this pack ideal for starting a hawthorn hedge. The plant's growth rate and size will vary depending on planting position & conditions, and bloom/interest will vary from photo upon delivery, dependant on season. DELIVERY INFORMATION: To avoid damage in transit some large, delicate or tall plants will be delivered using a wooden pallet. The pallet will be delivered using a heavy goods vehicle and the driver will need plenty of room to deliver as well as needing someone to sign for the delivery. As the deliveries are kerbside, this means that the driver will take the pallet off the lorry and will only be able to move the pallet to a close and easily accessible place from the road. The driver will not be able to wheel the delivery across any uneven surface such as grass, gravel or up or down steps and will not unload the items from the pallet or take the pallet away with them. If there are any issues with the access to your property, please contact us before your order is dispatched so that we can discuss possible alternative arrangements - failure to do so may result in a failed delivery and a re-delivery charge may be applicable. Please note that some areas including Central London, Scottish Highlands & Northern Ireland may be subject to an additional delivery surcharge.
