Nephrolepis 'Green Lady' indoor fern is closely related to the popular Boston Fern This beautiful clump forming, indoor fern is perfect for bathrooms and kitchens. Sansevieria Trifasciata (also known as 'Mother-in-laws tongue') is an eye catcher when it comes to foliage. It has rather broad leaves that are held upright. These leaves have bands of colour and mottling in various colours, very reminiscent of camouglage! Although rarely seen in the UK climate, they can give an occasional show of flowerswhich are small and green and have a delicate fragrance in the evening.. Shaded conditions will benefit sanseviera. In the UK, and in its container, it will be unlikely larger than 50cm, but can achieve a very large volume and height of over 1m in correct conditions. Areca Dypsis Lutescens Indoor Palm is a fantastic architectural plant that looks great as a stand out specimen around the home. Outdoors in its native tropical climates it can grow up to 12 metres in height, howeber in the UK climate and indoors, it will stay much smaller than this (thankfully)! To keep its size smaller, remove stems that become too large, along with any fronds that become yellowed. These palms are not frost-hardy, and will need to be kept indoors all year round. This specimen is approx 1.5m tall incding the pot with a pot diameter of 24cm. Calathea are a species of plant that originate in more tropical climates of places like mexico. Many are grown and kepts for their often large and decorative foliage. Some of which have some significantly eye catching patterns of brilliantly contrasting colour. Most can be a little bit picky when it comes to their environment, and require a little more attention from you than other plants - but if cared for correctly, a calathea can provide you with an absolutely beautiful show of foliage. Peperomia Argyreia (also known as the 'Watermelon Begonia') is a particularly favoured houseplant for its peculiar foliage that resembles the same pattern of a watermelon! Each leaf has large segments of dark green, separatred by an almost silver shade, forming the striped effect that makes it look like its namesake. This plant also has the added benefit of being an air purifying plant, and is an absolute must have for any houseplant enthusiast! Care is pretty straight forward, and tends to be relatively undemanding - treat like a succulent and allow the soil to dry out before you water again! Pilea 'Peperomioides' is a brilliant variety of the pilea famly that has immidiately head-turning leaves that are almost perfectly rounded and smooth. It has a relatively spreading habit, which is to maximise the amount of light the leaves are exposed to. These leaves are a vibrant green colour, with slight mottling and most noticably, a central 'eye' that marks the spot where the stem joins the foliage on the underside. Maranta 'Kerchoveana' are spectacularly variegated ornamental houseplants. Maranta leuconeura var. kerchoveana also known as 'Rabbit’s Foot' has folaige that are light grey-green with darker green patches on either side of the central vein. The leaf undersides are a uniform silvery green. Codiaeum 'Petra' (sometimes refered to as the variegated Croton) instantly brings that jungle feel around the home with its eye catching tropical foliage. Tradescantia 'Purpusii' is often found as an indoor hanging and trailing plant which has rather distinctive evergreen foliage that has a shiny sparkle about it with its natural glittery sheen. Calathea 'Sanderiana Ornata', sometimes refered to as the 'pin-stripe calathea' has such a fantastic pattern inits foliage, making this an ultimate statement piece in anyones room! Dark green upper and dark purple underleaf with flashes of striped pink - this plant is a real head turner! Place in a well lit spot, out of direct sunlight. Chamaedorea elegans is a very popular choice of houseplant due to its slender and elegant stems topped with frothy pinnate palm-like leaves. Monstera Obliqua 'Monkey Leaf' is a relative of the better known Monstera 'Swiss Cheese'. This Monstera has multiple, smaller holes, towards the middle of the leaf ans the ends of the leaf are closed. The Monkey Leaf is part of the Aracae family, originating from Central America. The Aracae are liana vines and the Monkey Leaf is no exception - if trained to grow up the moss pole provided, it can climb to great heights! Peperomia Obtusifolia 'Obtipan Bicolour' has a rather sprawling growth habit and produces large (for a peperomia) leaves that are both smooth and shiny, but perhaps most notable is that this particular variety of peperomis is exceptionally bright with its distinct variegated foliage. Maranta leuconeura 'Red Stripe' is sometimes known as the Herringbone plant for its fascinating variegated folaige.
